"Atlanta's Transgender Nightlife"

  atlanta bars

Visiting Atlanta soon? You're in for a treat. I live in one of the most t-friendly cities in the US. You'll most definitely love it.

I moved here from Kentucky - not exactly the "tg capital" of the world. I bless my lucky bra's - for every day I've been here since. *Smile*

I suppose you'd go visit another web site to learn where to go for "cake and ice cream" in Atlanta. *Grin* I'll give you a quick tour of some of the TG friendly clubs to visit in my area. These summaries are based upon my personal experiences. I've been out a "couple" of times...*Laugh*

The following link is the most COMPREHENSIVE you will ever discover regarding DRAG and Transgender shows in my area. I'd start there - and find what looks like a "good match" with your exact travel plans.

When possible, I've provided direct links to bars I've discussed. You should check your schedule in terms of what's happening at the particular time of your visit. Most links include directions to the club's location.

adjust your watches

Most people who visit our transgender night life - are surprised by how "late" we party Atlanta. It's unique - we have a number of clubs operating 24/7. Thus, you'll do best to rest up - and begin your evening much later than you do in your home town. I typically don't even walk out the door until near midnight.

Another surprise? Weekdays are usually very "dead". We tend to "work hard - play hard" - in the Capital of the South. If your visit does not include a Friday or Saturday stay over - you probably won't be too impressed with the Tranny night-life.

Thus - your best times "out" are between 1:00AM & 8:00AM on Friday / Sat Nights / Morning. I know that can be a "tough" set of hours - but it's when the most fun people are "there"...including me. *Grin*

Your highest percentage "shot" - for an unforgettable night - is at "Backstreet" on the specified times & nights I mentioned. During the other hours - we scatter to parties & other clubs. But if we are out - we all end up at BS early in the AM. It's sort of like a fishing net...

but i'm not "gay"

Why is it that every straight guy or heterosexual t-girl is absolutely convinced "gay men" - are going to want to molest them on sight - just because they have a penis? Let me clue you in on a few thyings...

First, very few gay guys are attracted to t-girls. They like "masculine" men - and we tend to represent very little of that. Some will be "playful" - try returning the favor - you'll make a great new friend.

Second - as for you "straight" guys nervous about chasing t-girls in these places...

Honey, I have zillions of close "straight" male friends. In fact, all my closest associations are with totally straight males. However, I'm not sexually attracted to these men. They're my "friends".

I hate to burst your bubble - but most "straight" guys don't look good enough to even attract the interest of a gay male in these clubs. Women will overlook that extra weight in your midriff area - gay men who are "nightlife active" - are typically a bit more discerning.

Don't sweat it - you'll be fine...

DRAG Bars

Backstreet has been around forever. It's a great TG bar located on Peachtree Street in Mid Town. Upstairs on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night (11:00 PM on Fri - Sat - 1:00 AM on Thurs - Sun) you can visit the "Charlie Brown's Cabaret" (as seen on HBO) - a fabulous DRAG show with some beautiful TG girls and great laughs. Hostesses' Charlie Brown & Raven will have you rolling with laughter and admiration by the time you leave.

Don't forget to visit Miss Lauren's blackjack table while upstairs - and tip her! Downstairs there's dancing, mingling, and pool tables. In my opinion, Backstreet's is the most TG friendly bar in Atlanta. Whether you are a perfect "10" TS or a first-time crossdresser; you'll fit right in here. Backstreet's is open 24 hours, 7 days a week - so I usually start other places and just end up here!

I sometimes get asked by locals if a person will feel comfortable here if they are not gay. This bar is a true melting pot of all "sexuality". I can assure you that you'll be fine. If you're "worried" try late Saturday night. It's predominantly "straight" after 2:00AM.

Metro is one of my favorite clubs. It's a bit more "gay" than some newcomers feel comfy with - but it's the preferred hang out for most tranny's for a good drink and friendly people. Good DRAG shows, great staff, small dance floor, male "go-go" dancers. Deck area is a nice "break" spot. Located at 1080 Peachtree, easy to "miss" from front of building. Parking in rear.

Model T  - Prefer a more laid back atmosphere to high intensity night clubbing? Model T is perfect for you. With a large "Cheer's" type bar and a friendly crowd - you'll never meet a stranger. No dancing, DRAG shows - laid back atmosphere. 699 Ponce De Leon Avenue - in the Kroger Shopping Center - Last "business" on right side before you reach Kroger Parking Area.

Blake's  - Decent Wednesday night DRAG show. Fun, "local flavor" gay bar near Backstreet's. A good spot to start a late nite "Wednesday Day Off" before a late run to Backstreet - if you don't have to work on Thursday...*Laugh* 227 10th Street across from the park.

other spots

is a dom / sub theme bar located off Cheshire Bridge road. It is a duplication of the theme bars made so popular on NYC's West Side. Don't let the "theme" fool you - nobody is going to hurt you - unless you want them to!! ::)) It is actually the "straighter" bar of the three I've highlighted, but loads of fun and good music.

They do live stage shows every couple of hours. Smaller shows in theme rooms occur between the stage acts. The stage dancers wear hot outfits and keep the crowd pumping. Seating is a little light, so get there early if you expect to find a spot. Since I wear very high heels here, I appreciate a place to rest now and then.

Black is the appropriate attire, but you'll see a little of everything here! If you dress in a dom/sub costume, you won't have to pay a cover charge.

Click on their logo for further details at their web site.

my sister's room

Prefer the lesbian scene? Then My Sister's Room is your best stop. Located in old Decatur, this bar has a bit of everything - from pool tables, exterior band area, bar / seating area.

It's not easy to "find" - if you don't know your way around Atlanta. So take a cab and leave the rental car behind. It's as friendly a place as a bunch of lesbians "know how to be"...*Laugh*

Located at 222 East Howard in Decatur. Call & ask for directions if you don't know where it is...(404) 370-1990.
