Back by popular...my "Photo of the Month" selections at
reneereyes.com. This series started all the way back in 2000 but I dropped
it as my gender evolved.
This time around?
I'm including tips on
acquiring all or part of the outfits I model for anyone with an interest.
Enjoy...
...and hopefully I'll see
you again next month.

about this photo
Evening dinner-wares are my favorite ensembles. I actually take "myself" out for
fine-dining just so I can enjoy them more often...sad, huh? There's no horror
quite like a lady that loves to dress elegantly whose dating a man that
lives for wearing f***ing jeans. *Laugh*.
how to acquire this outfit
This outfit was acquired almost exclusively from ebay.
-
The
top / jacket...is a vintage Marie St John "Evening" knit - however...I did
a good bit of modifying in order to achieve the look you see here. First off,
it's actually a dress. Did you know that dresses sell for much cheaper (I paid
$55.00 for this one) at on-line auctions than comparable blazers? You can
subsequently hem them to a length that works as a top. I've done it on several
St John dresses & they come out great. An important anecdotal item on this
outfit? Garments labeled as St John "Evening" attire are cut with shorter sleeves than normal...I've no clue exactly why
that is. Thus, I used the some of the extra fabric that was cut away when
hemming the dress to create "extensions" at the cuffs. Note...don't ever throw away any extra St John knits
fabric...it makes for killer small accessories. Finally, I sewed-in the thin
white satin collar in order to pick up the color of my belt & pants. Not
bad, huh?
- The belt...it's a new lizard Judith Leiber that
I bought off ebay. If you know me...you know I adore belts & Mrs. Leiber's
are 'da bomb in waist-wares. It originally retailed for over a thousand $$ but I
snared it for $125.00 by shopping in August...when fewer competing bidders
were looking. It's wide enough to act as a quasi-girdle...kinda' helpful if
you've packed on a few extra pounds: like moi. *Smile*
- The pants...are purple-label white silk Ralph
Lauren. Lauren differentiates their price & quality levels by the colors on
the label. Purple is the finest - and you'll notice the difference if &
when you buy a pair. These were New-with-Tags for $1,200.00. I bought them
in the dead of winter (when nobody's looking for whites)...for under $100.00.
Off-season shopping doesn't offer much immediate gratification...but your
patience will pay off in spades when the time comes. :)
Seeya' next month!
