Back by popular...my "Photo of the Month" selections at
reneereyes.com. This series started all the way back in 2000 but I dropped
it as my gender evolved.
This time around?
I'm including tips on
acquiring all or part of the outfits I model for anyone with an interest.
Enjoy...
...and hopefully I'll see
you again next month.

about this photo
Thank God....the temperatures are finally turning downward. Guess that
means it's early Fall, huh? The best & worst part about this time of year is
that the temperature difference between night & day can vary as much as thirty
degrees.
What's the key to success?
You got it:...layering. This particular style of combination
is one of my fave: it's as classy as it is sassy...making it functional for
almost any fall occasion.
Looking for something like
it?
Read on...
how to acquire this outfit
This outfit was acquired exclusively from on-line resources.
-
The
top-half...the black & white blazer / sweater is from Marie St John's
"Sport" collection. I bought it on ebay for about $100.00. The frilly & sheer
silk blouse underneath is also from St John. Her blouses run about $400.00 at
retail however...if you're patient on ebay? You'll find them new-with-tags for
about $75.00. The necklace is a double-wrapped gold & leather Chanel necklace
with a classic St John cross pendant attached at the center. This particular
pendant can double as both a brooch & necklace pendant: an ideal resource for
those of us with limited means. An idea worth
noting? I'm a big fan of oversized blouses with frilly cuffs:
they offer such great options to snazz-up your favorite blazers. Take
particular notice of the style of the cuffs (we like clever trimming, 24k gold
plated buttons or black-white stripe designs) and make sure the sleeve
is of adequate length from the shoulder to stand out against the blazer cuff.
- The lower section...the belt at my waist is a
vintage Chanel black leather with gold logo-trim belt. The other belt that's
slung lower at my hips is a classic Marie St John heavy gold chain belt that's
laced with her signature black knit fabric. You know me...why wear only one
belt when two will somehow fit? *Grin* Those black jeans I'm wearing are from
Victoria Secret and they're tucked into some affordable black walking boots I
acquired at Payless. Some Payless stores offer my hard-to-find size
12's...however I always add gel insets into the foot area for added comfort to
offset the reduced quality. You 'gotta pay...one way or the other...'ya know?
An idea worth noting? Two & three
tiered belts: which were the rage in the 1990's...have made a big comeback on
the runways this season as designers have slung them to the sides & mixed them
with other belts for a variety of clever combinations. One of the more clever
styles is to wear a hip-length dark color blazer...a longer light-color
tunic...and a high quality two-tier belt slung over the hip & visible over the
tunic.
There you have it: a mixture of high-end haute couture,
affordable heartland brands plus vintage classics layered for the range of
temperatures we all love during the fall.
Now...if I can just keep just keep away from those
Krispy Kreme's calling my name from over my shoulder...I might be able
to squeeze into November's outfit for the month...where I'm planning to
explore those variations in tiered belt designs...wish me luck! *Laugh*
Seeya' then!
